Q1. Can eyesight improve naturally?
Ans: Could you name a part of your body that doesn't self-heal? If you can't, then the eyes and mind is supposed to be able to reverse and myopia, astigmatism and presbyopia if you give it a chance by removing the eye-crutch or eyeglasses whenever it is possible to do so safely. This will encourage self-healing. For children who are just starting to wear glasses, the Bates Method is very effective since there is less "undoing" of the poor vision habits as compared to an adult who had depended on the glasses for decades. A quick search on the Net will lead you to many testimonials around the world testifying the Bates Method really works.

Q2. How long does it take to improve my vision using The Bates Method by Natural Vision?
Ans: If you are motivated and committed to improve your vision, and practise the Bates techniques as taught in Natural Vision Workshop every day for at least 10 minutes, you will experience vision improvement within weeks. Note that factors like your lifestyle, work or school pressures, nature of work, length of dependency on eyeglasses, diet and vision habits, all play a role in your rate of vision improvement.

Q3. How much time do I need to spend per day to practise The Bates Method by Natural Vision?
Ans: 10 - 20 minutes practising the Bates Method is highly recommended for the first 2 months. Soon, the techniques will become habits as the techniques are incorporated into the daily activities and lifestyle.

Q4. How do I sign up?
Ans: You can attend a Bates Method Workshop Preview Talk (Free) or signup online via our online store (coming soon). You can also email or call or check out our online schedule at www.thebatesmethod.com.

Q5. How much do I need to invest?
Ans: An adult's investment is USD349. A teenager and child will be USD229 and USD119 respectively.

Q6. Should I signup my child to attend the workshop together with me?
Ans: It is highly recommended that the parent and child attend the workshop together. This is a critical successful factor especially during daily self-therapy phase where the parent and child can help and support one another reinforce the good vision habits learned in the workshop, and practise the Bates techniques using the Natural Vision Eyechart. However, if the child is less than 9 years-old, the train-the-trainer approach, as in the parent learns the techniques and trains the young child on the Bates Method customised to the child's learning style. If a child is more than 12 years old and is mature and motivated to improve his eyesight, he/she is welcome to attend the workshop alone.

Q7. What is the Eyesight Training Kit?
Ans: The Eyesight Training Kit comprises of a pair of pin-hole glasses and a specially designed Eyechart combining the Snellen Eyechart and the Bates techniques in vision improvement.

Q8. What does the pin-hole glasses do?
Ans: The pin-hole glasses helps inculcate centralisation, a very important good vision habit, that reduces eyestrain and promotes clear, and relaxed vision. However, it is only a pair of training glasses and does not miraculously "cure" myopia or presbyopia. It also cuts out one's peripheral vision, hence it should never be worn outside the home from a safety standpoint.

Q9. What would be covered in the workshop?
Ans: We will also teach you the key concepts of The Bates Method, the principles and habits of clear natural vision, practical exercises, and implementation strategies for both parent and child.

Q10. Is the workshop a one-time investment or are there additional paid follow-up sessions?
Ans: The workshop is conducted in a train-the-trainer approach, with focus to incorporate the post-workshop implementation strategies to enable self-therapy for parent and child. No more sessions or investment are necessary. However, we strongly encourage our customers to invest in a stepped-down (downgrade the power of the lenses) pair of glasses as they improve their vision, although the best approach is to remove the glasses, or eye crutch completely provided this is done safely and without straining the eyes. The stepped-down pair of glasses will accelerate the self-healing process. The pinhole glasses are very useful as a substitute to prescription glasses.

Q11. What if I need help in the implementation after attending the workshop?
Ans: Our customers are welcomed to call or email us. If you have questions pertaining to the stepped-down glasses (how to work with your optician/eye-care profssionals to have a pair of stepped-down glasses , including the ongoing implementation strategies, will be covered in the workshop), we will be available to assist as well.

Q12. Does The Bates Method work for myopia (shortsightedness) and presbyopia (reading blur)?
Ans: The Bates Method works for all vision problems - myopia, presbyopia, astigmatism and hyperopia (long-sightedness). The Bates Method encourages self-healing. When the vision system returns to normal, it is capable of operating in any situation (see far and near) effortlessly and efficiently. For example, if presbyopia affects all individuals when they hit 40 years of age, then one would never be able to find any individuals who can still see perfectly (6/6 or 20/20) near and far. We know there are many exceptions out there, and you will definitely be able to find friends or relatives who are already in their 50’s and could still see far and near perfectly without a need for reading or distance glasses.

Q13. Is myopia or astigmatism hereditary?
Ans: If so, then very young children will be myopic or astigmatic at birth. We also find many children who are myopic, and yet their parents have perfect vision, or vice versa. Also, in a class of Grade (Primary) Ones in Singapore, 75% of the children have perfect vision. By Grade/Primary 6, 50% developed myopia. Therefore, most vision problems are not hereditary. Compare this to the USA, Europe and Australia, the rate of myopia is less than 20% by Grade 6.

Q14. Are the eyes healthy while wearing glasses or contact lens?
Ans: Glasses acts like an artificial eye-crutch, preventing self-healing of the eyes and mind coordination. Over-dependence on them usually leads to progressive myopia and astigmatism. Contact lens have the additional disadvantages of limiting the amount of oxygen to the visual system, causing irritation and sub-optimal functioning of the visual system, and "dry-eyes" effect for some people.

Q15. If the Bates Method really works, why don’t the eye-care industry adopts it as an approved alternative to eyeglasses?
Ans: Dr William Bates', "Better Eyesight Without Glasses", is still available in the bookstores (Kinokuniya, Borders, Times Bookstore in Singapore) today since its first publication in 1920. If the Method does not help people improve their vision, the book would long be out of publication. Dr Bates' book is arguably the best selling book on natural vision improvement in history. The premise behind The Bates Method is that our eyes and mind (eyes are extensions of the brain) are capable of self-healing, whereas the professional eye-care industry assumes that vision problems are irreversible. Eye-care professionals will have to discard years of professional training to embrace the Bates Method since both views (Bates vs traditional eye-care) are opposing to one another. However, eye-care professionals (optometrists, ophthalmologists) are the only professional specialists who can diagnose, treat and operate medically-related eye problems. The Bates Method is effective in reversing stress-related vision problems (myopia, astigmatism, presbyopia & hyperopia), and does not work for medically-related problems.
